So these awards show a few things

    1. Chadwick Boseman and Daniel Kaluuya will almost certainly win in their categories
    2. Carey Mulligan, the Critics’ Choice winner, looks very vulnerable in Best Actress and someone like Andra Day or Viola Davis, the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild winner respectively, could definitely swoop up and take this. Since none of these three actresses are nominated at BAFTA, this Best Actress race will be one of the most unpredictable in years as 4 different actresses will win the four major precursors.
    3. Youn Yuh-Jung has now won at SAG, Bakalova has won at CCA and this will be a close contest between the two until the very last moment. They both were nominated at BAFTA so lets see what happens when they face off there.
    4. Minari’s chances of winning Best Picture are essentially zero now as the film did not win here, at WGA (it was ineligible), or at PGA. It was also surprising how this year of all years, the SAG chose a film with all-male nominees as their winner. Anyway, The Trial of the Chicago 7, along with Promising Young Woman and Nomadland, are the top-3 frontrunners and ‘Trial’ may even be in a better place than ‘Promising’.

After Golden Globes, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Is The New Best Picture Frontrunner

1917 winning Best Drama over The Irishman knocks the latter’s Best Picture chances down slightly, making the way for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which won 3 awards last night, to take the top spot. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood received the exact same Golden Globe wins as last year’s Best Picture winner Green Book (Best Comedy/Musical, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor).
